Ground Swell speculates future land development for Louisiana’s most prominent barrier island, Grand Isle, over the course of the next 50+ years. The project negotiates the volatile existence of coastal conditions in the Gulf of Mexico and utilizes the sediment depositing Mississippi River as a productive agent to challenge the way we think about occupation and land management in these continually changing ecologies. A future is envisioned where the economic arena of Grand Isle’s industries are integral in the processes of the morphological management of its coastal land masses.
