Free Zoning

Now more than ever, buildings are outliving their intended use. Architects however are struggling to theorize the rift between the lifespan of buildings and their original use. Central Park Plaza, a derelict strip mall in Buffalo, NY is an extreme outcome of this lack of a theory. Having been vacant for years, it is now infamous as a site of crime. Instead of relying on a single financial investment and economic profit, this architectural proposal would produce its attraction though flexible ownership and free zoning.
1) All building materials get demounted and sorted for free for any new building activity on site.
2) The existing foundation will be used as a seedbed for new construction.
3) All uses are allowed.
