Vessels and ambulances as "network objects"
SURVEILLER ET DIVERTIR _ Discipline and entertain
By Pietro Pezzani
This project puts forward some of the implications linked with the dawning of a new paradigm of control, in which the relation between building and institution changes radically from the former Foucaldian model of disciplinary institutions.
The project adopts Telecare as a case study, and it interprets it as an open surface of connection, as a fluid system that maintains stability of form through change.
By proposing an implementation of Telecare, the project suggests a new, functionally indeterminate kind of building, in which the control of “collectives of information” is made possible and somehow negotiable by the overlaying of associated virtual institutions.
Telecare's domestic assemblage: sensors at work Telecare's surveillance assemblage: "immutable mobiles" at work
The project: new programs, new sensitive objects, new architecture
The architecture: no-stop plugs, hanging "mobiles", blurred fields and topographies
